The Guru is like a magnet. He attracts only iron (true devotees) and leaves the rubbish untouched.
The Guru was not born to achieve victory for Himself. He was born to make people like us victorious.
Guru Seva should never be performed merely when you have spare time, out of compulsion, ego, for fame or recognition, out of pity, carelessly, expecting rewards, according to your own whims, by offering what you have discarded, by first tasting or using what is meant for the Guru, or without sincerity and reverence. Service done in such ways is not Guru Seva at all.
Only a few among millions are blessed with the fortune of finding a Guru. Among them, only one or two are able to truly walk the Guru's path. They alone live a complete life. They alone know how to live as an example—and indeed do so.
